THE PLAYS

OF DICE AND MEN

In 2006, when his best friend Jason enlists in the Marine Reserves and prepares to deploy to Iraq, 30-something Dungeon Master John Francis is left with shattered friendships and a crisis of identity. He examines the role the game Dungeons and Dragons has played in his life, and what that means in the face of Jason's sacrifice. He must ultimately use the game he loves to get his two best friends to say what they need to say to each other before Jason leaves... and in the process, figure out what it means to finally “grow up”.

A blisteringly funny and heartwarming comedy about gamers, for a general theatre audience. -- (4 M, 2 F)

OF DICE AND MEN premiered with the Critical Threat Theatre Company at PAX Prime in Seattle in 2010. It has since been performed by theatre companies in New York, Chicago, Berkeley, Salinas, and Atlanta. In 2013 it was adapted into a full-length independant feature film of the same name by Cavegirl Films.

SHOGGOTHS ON THE VELDT

When Victorian explorer Melford Pumbleshire is eaten alive by... something while on expedition to Deepest, Darkest Africa, his redoubtable fiancee, Lady Euphonia Riggstone, must retrace his footsteps to put both an ancient evil and his unquiet spirit to rest. Along the way, she must contend with psychotic cultists, hapless male companions, and the full panoply of  horrors from H.P. Lovecraft's most fevered imaginings.

A two-fisted, lovecraftian action/adventure/horror/comedy/romance with a strong feminist bent. And a Shoggoth. Named Betsy. -- (2 F, 3 M)

SHOGGOTHS ON THE VELDT premiered with the Seattle theatre company The Rogues Gallery in November of 2015.

BED AND BREAKFAST
OF THE DAMNED

When young couple Ben and Melissa find shelter from the zombie apocalypse at the pug-themed “Snug as a Pug” bed and breakfast, they think that all their troubles are behind them. But when the sweet but hapless Carol and the deeply sociopathic Sheryl feed Melissa to the zombie horde in order to keep their husbands Dan and Carl from learning that they are having an affair, everything goes to pieces in a hurry.  Ben tries desperately to keep Melissa's zombified corpse hidden from a potentially homicidal Dan, Sheryl tries to bed everthing that moves, Carol tries to keep it together, and Carl wanders around in a drugged-out stupor, trying to figure out who left all the chamomile packets on the floor... leading inevitably to a frantic and bloody ending.

A classic door-slamming sex farce set after the zombie apocalypse.
